The Monaken Lodge Executive Board approved renovations to Rimmey Lodge at their November meeting. Renovations included the installation of new steel siding that will wrap around the building; two new porches: to the back and side of the building; new doors around the building, and a French drain that lines the back of the building.
For a number of years, the building has shown wear at the bottom back and there has been a safety concern that in the near future that the building would further deteriorate. Workers began replacing boards in mid-December and expect to finish shortly. This follows other renovations that the Lodge has done, most recently in 2008 with the installation of a new roof and walkway.
Rimmey Lodge was constructed in 1983 by Monaken Lodge and was named in honor of Joseph Rimmey. The money to build the cabin was raised through practical shares purchased by members on the Council. Rimmey Lodge is a true sign of the dedication that the Lodge has of its commitment to Seven Mountains Scout Camp and the campers who attend it every year. In 2008, Monaken Lodge celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the cabin with a re dedication.
