Officer Nominations to begin at the Ordeal

Reedsville, PA — Sunday of the Spring Ordeal marks the beginning of the nominations for both Lodge Officer and Chapter Officer positions. If you are interested in running for an officer position, here’s what you need to know.

In order to qualify, you must:

– Be under 21 for the entire term (term last from October 1 until September 30 of the following year)

– Be current in your dues with Monaken Lodge

– Be a registered Scout in a Unit in the Juniata Valley Council

If you are interested in running for a position, you must first be nominated prior to the elections. Have someone you know during the open nominations, “I would like to nominate …… for …….”, then you either accept or decline the nomination. After the nominations are closed, voting takes place. All registered youth in the Lodge who are present during the elections are entitled to one vote each

Chapter elections usually occur before the Lodge elections (though this is not always the case). A Lodge member may run and win a position within the Chapter, and then run for a Lodge officer position. If the member then wins a position of Lodge officer, that member must resign the Chapter officer position and then the Chapter must decide on how to fill the vacancy.

Nominations for lodge officer positions will then continue each week of Boy Scout Resident Camp. Nominations for both lodge and chapter officer positions will close the Sunday of the Fall Ordeal when the elections will occur.

If you have any questions about the process, please talk to the Lodge Adviser, Lodge Chief, or Lodge Staff Adviser.
